Claire Palermo

Claire is an early career academic awarded her PhD in 2010 which evaluated a mentoring intervention for public health nutrition workforce development and practice improvement. Prior to entering academia Claire worked as a dietitian in community nutrition settings. She has been awarded a Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence at Monash in 2009 and a Monash Teaching Fellowship for 2011 to investigate what inspires students as researchers. Claire recently completed an Office for Learning and Teaching funded project- 'Professional competence standards, learning outcomes and assessment: Designing a valid strategy for nutrition and dietetics' which is the focus of her presentation today. She has recently been awarded one of the Office for Learning and Teaching Fellowships in 2014. Her fellowship is titled: Transforming competency-based assessment in nutrition and dietetics.
