Associate Professor ASHIM K SINHA, MBBS, MD, FRACP, FACE is the Director of Diabetes and Endocrinology and Senior Eminent Staff Specialist Physician, Cairns Hospital in North Queensland, Australia. He has been working in this position since 2003. His major interest is in Indigenous Diabetes and he has been working amongst the rural Indigenous communities in Northern Queensland for over 20 years. He holds a conjoint academic appointment as Clinical Associate Professor in Medicine with James Cook University, Cairns. In 2012 he was awarded the Royal Australasian College of Physician Medal for outstanding clinical services to rural and remote area. He is a past council member of the Australian Diabetes and Endocrine Societies and a current member of the Specialist Advisory Committee for Endocrinology training and Adult Medicine Division Education committees of RACP. His major interests are in Diabetes Complications and General Endocrinology including thyroid disease. He has been a past examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He is a keen cricketer who always avidly supports the “MEN in BLUES”.
