Associate Professor Richard O’Brien is a senior endocrinologist and Director of the Lipid Service and at the Austin Hospital. He is also Clinical Dean of Medicine for the University of Melbourne at Austin Health. Over the last 15 years his research work has focussed mainly on aspects of atherosclerosis in diabetes including lipid abnormalities and endothelial dysfunction and he has authored numerous scientific papers on these subjects. Richard O’Brien is a past President of the Australian Atherosclerosis Society and is chair of the Australian Diabetes Society Expert Committee on Hyperlipidaemia.
