Associate Professor Henrik Falhammar graduated from the Karolinska Institute and later finished his specialist training at the Karolinska University Hospital, both in Stockholm. Since 2002 he has been Consultant Endocrinologist, Senior Consultant Endocrinologist and Director of the Neuroendocrine Unit, the Adrenal Unit and the Out-Patient Clinics at the Department of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes at that hospital. In 2007-2009 he worked at Cairns Base Hospital as an Endocrinologist, doing outreach 1-4 days/week covering the Torres Strait Islands, the Cape and part of the Gulf area. A/Prof Falhammar has a PhD in Endocrinology from the Karolinska Institute on the subject “Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia in Adults”. He is a Senior Researcher and has been involved in numerous clinical studies concerning patients with CAH. His main research areas are Adrenal Disorders, Diabetes Nephropathy and Diabetes in Pregnancy. A/Prof Falhammar is currently working at Royal Darwin Hospital but still retains his positions at the Karolinska University Hospital and Institute where he continues to do his research.
